Congratulations! You've decided to launch a podcast!
Now you're asking, “How do I get my podcast into Apple and Spotify?”
Well, you actually don't upload your mp3s directly to podcast apps.
For that you need a media host. I recommend *Captivate, *Buzzsprout, or Libsyn (*I earn commissions from purchases made through these links).
After uploading and releasing your first episode or trailer in your media host, the next step is to SUBMIT YOUR SHOW TO THE TOP 10 PODCAST DIRECTORIES.
Below is my list of the most popular places your show should be included to help gain maximum exposure.

💡 TIP: Many of the larger media hosts offer a one-click submission to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, and others.
1. Apple Podcasts
(aka: iTunes on Windows computers)

- Create a free Apple account on https://podcastsconnect.apple.com
- Click the purple + symbol
- Select “New Show” from the drop-down list
- Select “Add a show with a RSS feed” and click Next
- Add your RSS feed
- Click “Validate”
- Click “Submit”
- Wait for Apple to accept your submission…then tell the world!
BONUS! The following directories pull from Apple’s API (so you won't need to submit to them): BeyondPod, Downcast, iCatcher, Overcast, Podcast Addict, Pocket Casts, Podcast Republic, and Podcruncher
2. Spotify

- Go to http://SteveStewart.me/submittospotify
- Click “Get Started”
- Log into the account you want associated with your podcast
- Add your podcast (or if prompted, enter your RSS feed)
- Follow the rest of the prompts
3. Amazon Music & Audible
- Go to https://stevestewart.me/submittoamazon
- Scroll down to the text “Have a podcast? Submit it to Amazon Music here” and click “here”
- Complete the information, such as show title, RSS feed, email, etc
One submissions will get you into both of these directories!
4. Pocket Casts

- Paste your RSS feed into the box
- Check either the Public or Private button (most are Public)
- Press Submit

- Verify your ownership from the email
Tip: Once verified, you can add your social media accounts (optional)
6. iHeart Radio

- Next, go to https://player.fm/importer/feed
- Paste your RSS feed in the box
- Click on the icon that represents if your feed is public (most common) or not
- Press the “Import feed” button
8. Podbean

Podbean is a media host, but also has a pretty good app
- Create a free account at Podbean
- Under “Set up your podcast”, click “import it to Podbean”
- Add your RSS feed and follow the prompts
9. Listen Notes

Listen Notes isn't a podcast app, but it is a large directory of podcasts and there are some other reasons (albeit small reasons) to be in Listen Notes.
Note that once your podcast is available in Apple then Listen Notes will also pick it up shortly after. However, it only takes a few seconds to submit the show manually:
- Go to https://www.listennotes.com/submit
- Paste your RSS feed into the iTunes/RSS box
- Add your email address, or just click Submit and agree to the Content Policies
10. YOutube music

Getting your podcast into YouTube as a Podcast CHANNEL will also get the show into the YouTube Music app.
This is true whether you have an audio file that becomes a video with only your square show artwork or an actual real moving picture video. What you provide to YouTube Music as a Podcast will also be in YouTube.
Follow these instructions (it's easy once you are verified with YouTube).
There are three ways to get your show on to YouTube Music (and YouTube as a bonus):
Option A: See if your media host has an option to post to your YouTube Podcast Channel (easiest way to publish new episodes – even if they are just audio files – and get stats in your media host, like Libsyn)
Option B: Submit your RSS feed to your YouTube Podcast Channel (also very easy and will convert your audio podcast episodes into video format for you)
Option C: Create videos and manually upload them to your YouTube Podcasts Channel (either actual/real videos or audio files you turn into video files with tools like Headliner app, Descript, and a thousand other tools out there).
I realize all this can be VERY confusing. If you'd like help figuring out which option is best for you, or if you should start doing real video for your podcast, then hire me for a strategy session.
Growing a larger audience means being anywhere and everywhere your listeners want to consume your show. These Top 10 Podcast Directories will get you 99% of the way there without spending hours getting into all the places.
